Ontario’s universities congratulate Premier-elect Doug Ford and the Progressive Conservative Party on a successful campaign in the provincial election. We look forward to partnering with the new government to help create a better future for students, communities and the province.
We also offer our congratulations to the new and re-elected MPPs of all parties and look forward to working with them on issues that affect the people and communities in their ridings.
In the year leading to the 2018 election, Ontario’s universities asked Ontarians about their concerns for the future. We listened to employers, students, parents and concerned citizens. They told us their concerns about health care, jobs and skills, the economy and strong communities.
As the new Ontario government begins to fulfil its mandate to the people of Ontario, universities stand ready to work alongside the province and our other partners on those priorities, including preparing graduates with the skills for tomorrow’s workplace, educating health-care professionals and creating research and innovation that will help Ontarians lead better lives, create jobs, boosts entrepreneurism and drive a thriving economy.
Ontario’s universities believe that strong postsecondary institutions are vital for a strong Ontario. We welcome the opportunity to work with the new government to help build a stronger Ontario for all.
