Optimizing greenhouses for year-round use provides Ontario’s North with access to fresh produce and addresses food insecurity.
In partnership with local industry, two undergraduate students from Lakehead University used this solution to create ASM Innovations Inc. – a company that designs greenhouse structures and monitoring systems specifically for Northern communities. The company is dedicated to providing solutions for issues facing Northern communities and residents.
In addition to providing products, ASM provides the training and education needed to install and operate its products, leading to economic development and employment opportunities for the community.
As an active participant in its regional innovation ecosystem, Lakehead University in Thunder Bay works with its surrounding communities to enable students to take their innovations to market.
