Addressing protective equipment shortages

Home Addressing protective equipment shortages

“People across our campus have mobilized with our external partners to not just come up with ideas, but actually make them happen. Innovative design and manufacturing techniques like those used in this mask production can make a real difference in this fight.”

Addressing protective equipment shortages

Partnerships between local industry, health-care facilities and researchers are critical to help address the equipment shortages currently faced during the pandemic.

That’s why researchers at Ontario Tech University are collaborating with organizations, such as, the Automotive Parts Manufacturers Association, InkSmith and Lakeridge Health to develop and clinically validate face shields for health-care workers.

The team’s research and development for the protective gear is enabling local production and regional flexibility to ensure health-care providers can rapidly replenish their supply stocks.
