"If we want to develop services that are effective in serving the needs and reducing homelessness, then we need to know the parameters of the problem.”

Big research study helps city tackle homelessness

Laurentian University researchers are helping Sudbury tackle its homelessness problem by doing an in-depth study of the people who are living on its streets.

Interviews with more than 1,000 people on the city’s streets have been conducted.

The resulting demographic data on the numbers and types of homeless people helps inform policies not only in the city, but also in other municipalities and the province.
