In 1982, engineer Henk Wevers designed a secure wheelchair restraint system for use in buses and vans. It formed the basis of Q’Straint Systems Inc., the world’s leading wheelchair securement company. The restrain system also gave Queen’s University — where Wevers taught — its first significant product royalties.

His pioneering work in addressing the problem of keeping wheelchairs and their passengers safe while in transit has saved countless lives. Q’Straint products can be found in transit vehicles across North America and around the world.
