Creating Inclusive Spaces Through Art

To create an inclusive and safe space on campus, the Pride office at Laurentian University commissioned a mural that celebrates the diversity of students, faculty and staff.

Designed and painted by Laurentian student, Sam Barry, the mural showcases several groups and identities within the community, according to CTV News. This mural represents identities, such as Black, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, two-spirited and intersex individuals, through the inclusion of logos, flags and a medicine wheel.

The mural is located in the university’s Pride office, which is open to all students, faculty and staff.
