“Creating programming that’s accessible to everyone is a key focus of ours. We want students to have access, regardless of where they’re based, and when they require it.”

Deepening student connections online

To meet the needs of all students, including its significant commuter population, Ryerson University’s student life and career services have been shifting services online – a move that’s all the more important due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The services are now creating even more online touch points, exploring more ways to virtually connect with students. Student Life & Learning, for example, is hosting movies through Netflix Party and conducting daily virtual check-ins to reduce social isolation, in addition to its regular programming.

The Career & Co-op Centre offers one-on-one online appointments for students, workshops and online panels with recruiters, as well as, virtual therapy dog sessions.

The department’s COVID-19 taskforce continues to find ways to deepen virtual connections and look ahead at the next phase of student support.
