Designing Inclusive Spaces for Indigenous Students on Campus

To provide a safe gathering space for Indigenous students and learners on campus, Laurentian University, in partnership with the local Indigenous community and the Laurentian University Native Education Council, established the Indigenous Sharing and Learning Centre (ISLC).

Through culturally-relevant spaces, such as a round-room gathering space, seminar rooms, counselling areas, ceremonial spaces and a student lounge, the ISLC aims to create a safe learning environment that supports the well-being and aspirations of Indigenous students, learners and residents in the local community.
