Many health-care products are not designed with the unique needs of all users in mind. To design more inclusive health-care products, students in OCAD University’s industrial design program developed prototypes that re-envision everyday products in aging and personal protective equipment (PPE).
As students designed their prototypes, they researched the needs of their target uses and worked closely with end users and subject matter experts to refine their products. Through this experience, students developed key critical thinking and problem-solving skills and the holistic understanding needed to develop more inclusive and effective products that support all Ontarians.
