Designing the medical check-up of the future

As Ontario rebuilds its health-care system, health-care professionals will need efficient systems in place to better manage patient care and backlogs.

Researchers and students at Queen’s University are collaborating with Canadian artificial intelligence (AI) firm MarkiTech to develop a tablet that will automatically check and report a patient’s health by scanning their face. The technology will provide nurses with a reading of the patient’s temperature, blood pressure, oxygen level and more, which will help triage patients based on their condition.

By leveraging this technology, hospitals and clinics will both save time and minimize the risk of infection among health-care workers and other patients.
