Developing Mental Health Tools for Frontline Workers

Many frontline and essential workers experienced increased mental health challenges due to the pandemic. To support these vital workers, researchers at Toronto Metropolitan University are developing two mental health resources that are easy to access for frontline workers affected by the pandemic.

The first resource, Couple HOPES (Helping Overcome PTSD and Enhance Satisfaction), created by Toronto Metropolitan’s IMPACT Lab, is a free online guided tool for frontline workers to use with their partners or loved ones. The second resource, created by start-up LUCID and Toronto Metropolitan’s SMART Lab, is an app that enhances mental and emotional well-being by delivering personalized music sessions. Each playlist is tailored to each person’s desired outcome, whether that be reducing stress and anxiety, or enhancing energy and focus.
