Urban sustainability is a bit of buzzword these days as population pressures, climate change and development take their toll on society. The issues are complex, but OCAD University researchers have teamed up with Wero Creative and Evergreen Brickworks to develop an innovative tool to encourage solutions. Their contribution is a digital game called DeepCity, billed as “a real-time strategy game set in a near future of strange beings, megastorms, and scarcity where energy is as precious as life itself.”
DeepCity is designed to increase players’ awareness of and engagement with social issues, challenging them to develop solutions for urban sustainability.
