Helping advance equity, diversity and inclusion in health care

Ensuring equity for all patients is foundational to a strong health-care system. To help create cultural awareness and anti-discriminatory practices in health care, three medical students at Queen’s University are investigating the ways in which equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) can be more effectively implemented in medical training to improve patient care for all Ontarians.

What started as a summer research opportunity has become a more in-depth project as the students continued to make new discoveries as they worked towards their goal of evolving the health sciences curriculum at Queen’s. The next phase in their project will include interviews with their peers and using their feedback to effectively integrate EDI into the curriculum.
