Small businesses across the province were unexpectedly faced with pivoting or closing their operations overnight amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Recognizing the challenges local businesses were facing, Brock University partnered with both the South Niagara Chamber of Commerce and Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce to connect students with businesses that could use support.
Students helped businesses by leading and supporting a range of operational tasks and delivering strategic solutions to challenges, including social media marketing and web design, as well as implementing food delivery and new processes to increase efficiency.
The partnerships helped students develop new, existing and diverse skillsets that will give them an advantage in the workforce once they graduate, while helping local industry adapt during the pandemic.
