Restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic have made it difficult for students to maintain regular physical activity as many rely on access to campus fitness centres and recreational sports teams.
A research project from Lakehead University is looking more closely at the link between barriers to physical activity and its impact on student mental health. The research program aims to identify health promoting strategies to inform and develop future programming at both Lakehead campuses during pandemic and post-pandemic times.
By identifying these barriers and strategies, universities will be better equipped to tailor health and wellness offerings to meet evolving student needs.
