Nipissing has made a promise to its students: If you can’t find a job in your field within six months of graduating, Nipissing will provide one year of tuition-free university study. The Nipissing Promise program is open to newly admitted and transfer students with fewer than 30 transfer credits. “We want our students to know that we are here to help and support them, even after graduation,” says Casey Phillips, Assistant Vice-President, Students at Nipissing.
Students who enrol in the Nipissing Promise program work with an advisor who guides them through their studies and helps them with the transition beyond graduation. Program requirements include regular meetings with advisers, and the completion of academic, social engagement, and holistic development opportunities each year. If students who complete the program with a 70 per cent average don’t secure career-related employment six months after graduation, they are invited to return to Nipissing for up to 30 credits of tuition-free study.
