"We are seeing a huge demand from new and mid-career learners who want to add university credentials to their resume and upskill in emerging and in-demand fields such as risk management, digital marketing, data analytics and full-stack web development. Despite the economic devastation caused by the pandemic, these fields are still experiencing a demand for workers. People are looking to strengthen their career or to transition into jobs that can be performed remotely during these uncertain times.”

Offering short, accelerated programs designed with industry to fill labour market gaps

The pandemic is causing many companies to reorient themselves, triggering demand for new skills. York University is partnering with industry to offer a series of short, accelerated cohort programs for mid-career professionals to help meet that demand

Big data analytics, blockchain development, cybersecurity, user experience design and digital marketing are among some of the more pressing areas, according to the university’s continuing education advisory council. York’s cohort model allows students to build professional relationships and friendships with their peers, while also developing their human skills and technical capabilities.

The online programs give students timely, in-demand skills in targeted areas of employment.
