“We need to help police services, as they’re on the frontlines and answering regular calls. This is my small way to help them deal with this new reality.

As supplies become scarce, front-line workers are looking to local universities as community partners to help them source essential products like hand sanitizer.

Dr. Eric Gauthier, Chair of Laurentian’s Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, was contacted by Patrol Sergeant Randy Buchowski from Greater City of Sudbury Police Service to help develop hand sanitizer, ensuring safer service calls for their police officers.

Local mining company KGHM has donated $2,000 to Dr. Gauthier to help cover the supplies needed for his local hand sanitizer production and The Greater Sudbury Police Service now has 120 litres for its front-line officers.
