Partnering to train Inuk doctors

To provide culturally relevant care to Inuk patients and ensure equal representation within the health-care workforce, the University of Ottawa is dedicating spots in its medical school program for Inuk students and residents from Nunavut.

The program is the result of a collaboration between the university, the Government of Nunavut and Nunavut Tunngavik Inc., the legal representative of the Inuit of Nunavut. Together, they are also working with prospective students to help remove potential barriers to accessing medical school.
