Pharmacy students step up to support COVID-19 vaccine roll-out

Throughout the pandemic, there has been mounting pressure on frontline workers. In response, nearly 400 pharmacy students at the University of Waterloo have stepped up to become certified COVID-19 immunizers.

With several students on placement, clinical rotation or in part-time rolls during the pandemic, students have supported vaccination efforts both within the Waterloo region and across the province based on their unique location.

While participation is voluntary, the university has adapted its curriculum so students who participate receive credit towards the community service learning or interprofessional education milestones required for graduation.
