Pioneering surgical imaging tools

Ryerson University researcher and Canada Research Chair in Bioengineering and Biophotonics Victor Yang has co-developed a surgical navigation tool that quickly generates detailed 3-D images of patients’ insides, enabling surgeons to analyze the conditions below the surfaces of body tissue. Yang has become a leader in translational medicine, particularly for his surgical navigation tools that move optical technologies to active use in the operating room and improve surgical practice.

His work has led to the development of new diagnostic imaging and therapeutic monitoring tools for minimally invasive procedures.
