“Queen’s Cares is a truly amazing program that offers a different opportunity for students. The program creates a connection between personal, social and academic growth with community engaged learning, as opposed to typical volunteering.”

Queen’s Cares Brings Community Service to Reading Week

Over reading week, many Queen’s students catch up on work and visit family. Others learn more about their community through community service, thanks to the Queen’s Cares program. Queen’s Cares is a four-day program in which students work in teams and partner with a local community organization to complete a project. Recent projects have included working with a Kingston job centre to help a group of Syrian women, new to the city, develop entrepreneurial skills. Students also partner with health centres, organizations focused on empowering Aboriginal communities, and more.
