Retooling operations to create 3-D face shields

After learning that doctors at the Thunder Bay Health Sciences Centre needed approximately 20 face shields per day, Lakehead University’s Centre for the Application of Resources Information Systems (CARIS) pivoted their operations to 3-D printing medical face shields.

Typically used to design aerial vehicles and drones, CARIS now has the capacity to produce approximately 30 shields and is connecting with other local community members to share designs and coordinate deliveries online.
