“It’s so important to support science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) learning with fun hands-on activities for kids currently missing regular school. The new c_wonder: At Home program allows us to continue this work, partnering with parents and teachers to continue to nurture their students’ interest in STEM.”

STEM outreach programs for kids

To encourage student development while learning from home during COVID-19, Ontario Tech University’s Engineering Outreach team has launched a remote science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) learning program for students in grades 1-8.

To help parents and teachers engage their student’s interest in STEM, the outreach team designed the online learning program, c_wonder: At Home, which includes live learning sessions, at home lessons and educational YouTube videos.

The program is aligned with the Ontario elementary school curriculum and has had more than 300 participants since mid-April, allowing students to interact with instructors while also challenging them to discover new things.
