In order to support and promote small food service businesses in the community during the pandemic, The University of Toronto Scarborough is working with Centennial College and Toronto City councillor Jennifer McKelvie on The Scarborough Restaurant Recovery Project.

The BRIDGE, a research and innovation centre at U of T Scarborough, is partnering on this collaborative multi-media initiative that will bring community leaders together to share the stories (and the food) of establishments in Scarborough. The program involves three summer courses, as well as a co-op opportunity that allows students to support small businesses in the community during the pandemic – and help put them on Toronto’s culinary map.

Through this multi-dimensional approach to work-integrated learning, students play an important part in helping Scarborough restaurants leverage digital delivery resources and tools, as well as assisting with website development, branding and promotion to help adapt their businesses to the new environment.
