To help researchers, news media and the general public track pandemic infections across the country, the University of Guelph is compiling data for a national data tracker called COVID-19 in Canada.
Graduate student and research volunteers from the University of Guelph’s Department of Population Medicine are collecting COVID-19 case data from public health and government ministry sources, which is then shared and uploaded to a dashboard by the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health.
The online dashboard provides a snapshot of Canadian coronavirus cases and is attracting approximately 10,000 visitors a day. The site displays a simple map and graph that track daily numbers of reported infections, recovered cases, number of deaths, as well as the number of people tested in each individual province, territory, and across the nation.
