Law professor at the University of Ottawa, Michael Geist, changed Canadian government policy on copyright into one of the most user-oriented and progressive reforms in the world, reforming copyright for the digital age. His innovation has resulted in Geist becoming widely recognized as one of the most influential people on intellectual property and copyright law in the world. He received Canarie’s IWAY Public Leadership Award for his contribution to the development of the Internet in Canada and has been named one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40, as well as, one of the 25 most influential lawyers in Canada.
