Using machine learning to better understand COVID-19

Home Using machine learning to better understand COVID-19

“The ability of machine learning tools to identify patterns and make accurate predictions based on large volumes of data is well documented. Today, the Vector Institute stands ready to support Ontario’s fight against COVID-19.”

Using machine learning to better understand COVID-19

High-performance computing and machine learning is helping inform decision-making around COVID-19 due to research from the Vector Institute, an affiliate of the University of Toronto.

The researchers are able to process large amounts of data across Ontario’s health-care system, gaining a better understanding of the risk of spread in vulnerable populations, asymptomatic transmissions, resource allocation, social distancing measures and supply chains for essential medical supplies.

The Vector Institute is also offering privacy and security expertise to guide Ontario’s implementation of policies and procedures in collaboration with the Schwartz Reisman Institute for Technology and Society at the University of Toronto.
