To help power Ontario’s electric vehicle (EV) industry and future, Ontario Tech University continues to lead innovation in Project Arrow, a ground-breaking engineering initiative resulting in Canada’s first zero-emission concept EV.
Building on the success of the original prototype, Ontario Tech and the Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association (APMA) debuted Project Arrow Borealis, the second prototype in the series, at the Canadian International AutoShow in 2026. The unveiling took place alongside Project Arrow Vector, a next-generation evolution of the program’s working technology platform, signaling the continued advancement of a fully Canadian EV ecosystem.
More than 20 Ontario Tech students gained valuable hands-on experience through their involvement in Project Arrow, gaining exposure to every aspect of vehicle development, from part design to fabrication, while working alongside experts in the field. The project, which also included collaboration with various industry partners and postsecondary institutions across Canada, continues to demonstrate how coordinated efforts support innovation in the automotive and advanced mobility sectors. Project Arrow is expected to produce a commercially viable prototype by 2028, fully buildable in Canada.
