Third Annual COU–AMO Lecture Series: Partnering to Drive Local Workforce and Economic Development

TORONTO, August 20, 2024 – Ontario’s universities presented the third annual Council of Ontario Universities (COU) – Association of Municipalities Ontario (AMO) Lecture Series at this year’s AMO Conference, which focused on municipal workforce planning and the future of work across the province.

The session, titled Partnering to Drive Local Workforce and Economic Development, included introductory remarks from Steve Orsini, President and CEO, Council of Ontario Universities, and also featured a keynote address from Brian Lewis, Ontario’s former chief economist who is now a senior fellow at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy of the University of Toronto, a senior fellow with the C.D. Howe Institute and a frequent contributor to Ontario 360.

Their presentations, both included below, looked at the future job needs of Ontario and how local communities and universities can work together to address current challenges, driving workforce growth and regional economic development.
