By working to advance vision sciences and create applications that deliver positive health, societal, technological and economic impacts, York University‘s Vision Science to Applications (VISTA) program brings together a collaborative network of researchers, trainees and industry partners to create technologies that will help people live more productively.
The program focuses on exploring how humans and machines perceive and interact with the world by combining expertise from neuroscience, computer vision, artificial intelligence, psychology and engineering. Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows also have the opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research with real-world applications in health care, robotics and environmental monitoring. By connecting trainees with industry partners, the initiative fosters collaboration and enables them to apply their skills in real-world settings.
In addition, VISTA supports professional development through workshops, internships and co-op placements, equipping participants with the technical and professional skills needed to excel in diverse career paths.
