With a goal to help boost students’ resumes, gain hands-on experience in food science and develop a spectrum of food science skills, the University of Guelph’s Food Science co-op program empowers graduates to get industry-relevant skills for future careers.
The program also introduces students to the application of chemistry, microbiology and physics in food processing and product development. Through practical experience, students explore areas such as formulation, pasteurization, sterilization, fermentation, and packaging. Additionally, it also covers key aspects of food science, including nutrition, sensory evaluation, product development and marketing.
This program not only deepens students’ understanding of the field, but also builds confidence in applying scientific principles to real-world food challenges.
