As the demand for highly-skilled professionals in the nuclear sector grows, Ontario Tech University’s Nuclear Career Accelerator is developing a strong talent pipeline that supports the nuclear sector at all levels, from entry-level positions to expert.
Canada’s nuclear sector is facing a 30 per cent retirement rate and a projected 20 per cent increase in workforce demand. To address this challenge, Ontario Tech has launched a 12-week hybrid upskilling program designed for mid-career engineers and technical professionals which will help students who are already in the nuclear field or transitioning from other sectors. The program also offers fast-tracked, industry-aligned training to help support career transitions into the nuclear sector.
The program combines technical training on nuclear systems, safety protocols, and regulatory frameworks with career coaching and job-placement support. By preparing professionals for various roles within the sector, this initiative aims to build the workforce needed to meet clean energy and net-zero goals.
