By connecting youth and job seekers with pathways into clean energy careers, Ontario Tech University has launched WattNext – an energy literacy initiative that is building Ontario’s next generation of clean energy talent.
In partnership with Ontario Power Generation and the Ontario Science Centre, WattNext’s interactive website, hands-on exhibits, curriculum-aligned programming, and community events are designed to make energy education accessible and engaging. By connecting students and families with real-world energy topics – how electricity is generated, what the “grid” is, and where the jobs of tomorrow lie – WattNext is helping build a skilled and resilient workforce for Ontario’s clean economy.
By fostering energy literacy and inspiring future professionals, the initiative helps lay the foundation for Ontario to expand its clean-energy capacity and help build a skilled and resilient workforce for a clean economy.
