Providing valuable hands on learning online

To help local high schools continue hands-on science programming while students are learning at home during COVID-19, a professor at Lakehead University adapted his hands-on high school science workshops to an online class.

Chris Murray, associate professor in the departments of sustainability sciences and physics, is teaching “Let’s Talk Science” weekly sessions with grade 11 environment science high school students, using readily available household items.

Murray is hoping to implement this online program across the 50 schools that he was engaged with pre-pandemic, to facilitate additional online sessions and reach even more students and teachers.
