Feeding communities across Canada

Hosted at the Laurier Centre for Sustainable Food Systems at Wilfrid Laurier University, FLEDGE (Food: Locally Embedded, Globally Engaged) has developed the Community Food Toolkit to give communities across Canada practical tools to design their own local, sustainable ways to access healthy food, ensuring their own food security. The toolkit includes suggestions about how to run a workshop and ideas about how to define a vision for a community food system, making the process empowering and community-driven. To identify tailored community toolkits, the researchers scanned more than 350 food projects across the province and conducted more than 170 interviews.

Through community research partnerships, the project is fostering citizen engagement in sustainable community food systems that are socially just, healthy, and economically localized.
