Helping International Students Transition to Life in Canada

Moving to a new country can be overwhelming for some students as they navigate a new city and university life at the same time. To help international students transition to life in Canada and support their unique needs throughout their studies, Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) offers tailored resources through its International Student Support (ISS) office.

ISS services are designed to support students’ academic, language, financial, mental health and social transition to university life. Some of the supports and resources offered include: access to regulated international student advisors and consultants, tax services, tailored workshops, financial assistance, awards opportunities, as well as academic advising and action planning.

Through these supports, TMU aims to provide a welcoming environment and holistic approach to the international student experience – ensuring students can meet their academic, personal and professional goals.
