“It’s been a long battle, but it’s always been an inevitability that we’d have digital immunization certificates.”

Revolutionizing healthcare with world’s first digital immunization app

Patients and health care providers will be able to efficiently and conveniently review and monitor vaccination records through the world’s first digital immunization app, launched by researchers at The Ottawa Hospital and the University of Ottawa.

Recognizing the need for digital immunization certificates in Canada, Dr. Kumanan Wilson, CEO of CANImmunize and a professor of medicine at The University of Ottawa, worked with a small team at The Ottawa Hospital to create the first digital immunization app in the world that allowed Canadians to keep track of their immunizations digitally, and reminded them when they were due for next doses.

When the pandemic hit, CANImmunize adapted its solutions, including a workplace-focused product called CANImmunize Shield that helps workplaces understand the vaccination status of employees and then uses that information to protect more vulnerable employees. Through partnerships, government support and continuous innovation their work is revolutionizing health care in the evolving field of digital immunization.
